Demonstrations:    body mods

Chip Wamsley and Gary Kulchock brought in their Ferrari Enzo model kits that are in the process of being modified into something more than just an out-of-the-box kit.  Chip gave a demonstration of how to apply gap filling glues, accelerators and speedy super glues to bond plastic sections of the kit body together in an efficient manner and yet enhancing the integrity of the car body as a whole.  The drying time for a section of work was just seconds using the accelerator immediately after glue applications.  Both Chip and Gary are using this method to alter the styles of their Enzo kits, sanding any excess build up off just a minute or so after gluing.

The photos below are shots of Chip's conversion into a Maserati Lemans.  Penciled lines were drawn and cutting has begun on the front and rear sections of the car.  Notice how the rear section was "welded" on to the Enzo.  The entire rear pan was taken from another kit.  With the help of reference photos, he will continue to contour the shape as necessary.
